TRIDENT 8900 Series Setup For MS-WINDOWS 3.0
*Print this file for future reference*
These drivers and additional information will assist you in setting
up your TRIDENT 8900 (including IMPACT III Series 256K to 1MB
memory) Graphics Card to get the highest performance from your
machine. Please follow these instructions carefully to insure
correct installation.
First you should transfer the files from your download onto a
floppy disk and label it TVGA UTILITIES DISK for future reference.
Installing the MS WINDOWS drivers, TVGA RAM BIOS and TANSI.SYS
takes about 35 minutes once you have read this file. So set aside
enough time to complete the job properly and you will be amazed at
the results.
TVGA RAM BIOS
=============
The TVGA RAM BIOS enables you to keep the TVGA BIOS in your
system's active memory for faster display response. It requires
approximately 32K of memory. If your system has enough memory, you
may want to try TVGA RAM BIOS. On an 8-bit system, TVGA RAM BIOS
will make your display run faster; on a 16-bit system, increased
speed will depend upon your systems hardware limitations. You can
install the TVGA RAM BIOS in your CONFIG.SYS file, or in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
Installation Procedures:
------------------------
* Install TVGA RAM BIOS in CONFIG.SYS file
1. Place the TVGA UTILITIES DISK in the floppy drive
and type "COPY A:TVGABIOS.SYS C:".
2. Add the line "DEVICE=TVGABIO.SYS" to your
CONFIG.SYS file.
3. Reboot the system.
* Install TVGA RAM BIOS in AUTOEXEC.BAT file
1. Place the TVGA UTILITIES DISK in the floppy drive
and type "COPY A:TVGABIO.EXE C:".
2. Add the line "TVGABIO" to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
3. Reboot the system.
TANSI.SYS
=========
TANSI.SYS provides an enhanced ANSI screen driver for standard
output displays. The driver allows more than 80 columns and 25
rows of text to be displayed on screen. If you already have an ANSI
driver installed and are unable to display more than 25 rows of
text, you may want to replace your ANSI driver with TANSI.SYS.
TANSI.SYS Installation
----------------------
1. Insert TVGA UTILITIES DISK in your floppy drive and
"COPY A:TANSI.SYS C:".
2. Enter your CONFIG.SYS file and replace the line
DEVICE=ANSI.SYS with DEVICE=TANSI.SYS
3. Reboot the system.
Microsoft Windows/286/386 version 3.0
=====================================
Steps:
1. First, install MS Windows 3.0 using the standard IBM VGA
driver.
2. Make sure Windows 3.0 is working properly.
3. Enter the Windows 3.0 directory (eg. c:\windows), run
SETUP.EXE.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen. When you are
prompted to choose the display adapter, choose the option
"Other ...".
